Levenmouth Learner Celebration 2013

100learnersAround 100 local learners and their families got together to celebrate their achievements recently at Buckhaven Community Centre.  Each had completed a course which enabled them to progress in to employment, further training, education or volunteering.  These included first aid, food hygiene, information and communications technology, hospitality, parenting and arts and crafts, offered by Fife Council Community Learning and Development, Kirkland College, Adam Smith College, and the Community Food Project.

JLJanice Laird, Service Manager for Adult Learning, opened the event and said:

“It was wonderful to see so many learners celebrating their learning and achievement in such a positive way. Everyone who attended received a certificate and felt proud of what they have achieved.”

 

 

TACouncillor Tom Adams Chair of Levenmouth Area Committee, who presented the certificates, added:

“Well done to the students of all age groups; there was a real buzz about the award ceremony and it was a pleasure to present certificates on such a wonderful night of success. I congratulate each and every one of them for the time and effort that they have put in on achieving their awards.” 

 

As part of the ceremony some of the learners each recorded their thoughts on the courses they had undertaken.

General Comments from learners:

“By going to computer classes, I learnt how to do job searches. I then used my computing skills to fill in an application, make a CV and I now have a full time job which is due to working with these services.”

“Taking part in courses, I managed to get funding to do my welding certificate.”

“Using the skills I have learned, I can now teach others and go on to do other things.”

“Adult Learning turned my life around 360 degrees.”

“I can’t wait to do more courses and learn more.”

“It’s good that courses are kept local.”
