Young People Have Their Say

Young People have their say photo2

As part of the Let’s Talk budget consultation events young people who attend Tower House Youth Centre met up with elected members from City of Dunfermline Area Committee to discuss the proposed budget.  The event lasted for two hours and involved discussion and debate as well as the young people putting their thoughts up on the ‘Talking Wall’.

A range of points were raised by the group and elected members were challenged to respond to some key issues about the budget as well as broader issues of concern to the young people

Some of the key themes raised included views on council centres, the cost of childcare for young parents, employment and training opportunities for young people, access to housing and their thoughts on a range of matters to do with schools.

Elected members were very impressed with the level of debate and one commented that it was as good a discussion as he had experienced.
